Be Mine

The 12 Days of Christmas have finally wrapped up, and although I know you're all exhausted, it's time to move things along and slide into the new month with another event that is sure to make you wish your New Years resolution had been to TCG less. Let's go on a ride, boys and girls! It's time to introduce the big one. The Be Mine event goes live right now.

First and foremost, this event is meant to coincide with Valentine's Day in an attempt to bring some joy to the members and throw custom badges that feature their biases. Some will say this is a shipping event (and for the most part, it probably is), but we want members to remember that this is also about the power of friendship and we're just putting that out there for the members who may not think this event is for them. This event is for everyone!

The following list of just a simple rundown of the event. As questions are asked, this information may be edited to help out future members.

  • What is the Be Mine event?
    • Be Mine has one objective: Collect the odd numbered cards of Person A, and the even numbered cards of Person B to make a 20 card deck.
    • The event will run from February 1st to March 3rd, which will be a Sunday update.
    • For your efforts, you will be rewarded 1 custom mastery badge, 1 "pretty keeps card", 5 random cards and 1 choice card.
      • The random cards will be rewarded to you when you receive your badge.
      • Choice cards should be logged and taken immediately. This is to avoid the chance of your required choice card changing between the time of your mastery being handed into us and the time of your rewards.
      • To keep your logs organized, we recommend keeping all of these event choice cards in one reward line within your logs.
      • The randomized rewards you receive will include your choice card in bold. Please ensure you are not collecting this card twice. It is just to remind you so that you can remove it from your other reward line. We understand that this may feel complicated, but we think it's more important that you receive your choice card quickly!
      • Choice cards can be used to master another event deck. As always, however, can not be used to master a regular deck in our normal circulation.
    • Pretty keep cards are worth 1 and can not be traded! They're just for you to show off in your trade post.
    • Pairing decks can be mastered alone, or members can collect the same pairing as a friend and share a badge! More information about this below.
    • We are not allowing crack pairings, which means members should ensure that your celebrities have usable photos together before going through the trouble of collecting them! More information about images below.
  • How can I participate?
    • Collecting one half of two decks is as simple as collecting a mini mastery. Once you have both the odd and even sets completed for your mastery, we recommend saving them into a folder on your computer under the brand new name.
    • If you are someone who has their badges sorted by name, we recommend thinking of a name that will suit you and display your badges appropriately. You can call your deck anything you'd like. In my example, I called my deck "bemine01"! (Ignore the dash in my file names, I don't know what I was doing)


    • After that, it's just a simple case of uploading the cards to your site via FTP. The same as you do for the mini mastery game!
    • If you're confused about how we got here or why we're doing this, I highly recommend reading the mini mastery instructions, as they're a little more in dept and frankly, I would just be repeating myself if we included the full details!


    • Inside of ETCG, I'm now able to add the deck and display my cards/master when I am ready.
    • For those of you who are still card hunting, we suggest creating a "ghost trade" with any pending cards you have for your event decks. This will help you keep track of which cards you still need, as your trades will reflect actual file names. That means cards will not appear as pending in your event deck unless you go that extra step!


    • Now all that is left to do is head over to the forum to fill out the form!!
  • How many times can I use the same idol?
    • For this event, you may only use the same idol twice.
    • If you decide to master a pairing with a friend, this does count as one of your uses for both of those idols. More about this below.
    • If you're planning on using the same idol twice, you must ensure that you're using the odd numbered cards for one mastery, and the even numbered cards for the second.
    • We may be asked, why only twice? Crowd control, as always! We want to ensure there are plenty of cards to go around in this event, as many of our members like the same groups and pairings!
  • Do all of the cards have to be from the same era?
    • Nope! For idols with multiple eras, you're free to mix and match.
      • If you were planning on mastering S.Coups and Jeonghan, you could use cards from both their Don't Wanna Cry decks and Adore you at the same time.
    • Music Video cards are not included in this, even if only one idol is in focus. Sorry!
  • How can I master a pairing with my friend?
    • Giving friends the option to master a pairing together was brought forward by Luna during our first event committee meeting!
    • As per the badge example above, two member names will appear on the badge instead of one.
    • Member A and Member B will collect the same idols, but must collect opposite numbers for both idols.
      • (If Caitlin were to collect Jeonghan and S.Coups with Nikki, she would collect S.Coups odd (1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15,17,19) and Jeonghan even (2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20). Nikki would collect the opposite (S.Coups even, Jeonghan odd).)
    • For this particular option, there are no additional benefits or loss. Members can simply share a badge with a friend.
    • Although friends share a badge, both members are encouraged to request unique pretty keep cards, as you'll both be rewarded one each. These do not have to be the same for both Idolise members!
    • While handing in a Be Mine mastery, please use the correct form so that your badges match.
  • Which photos can I use for this event?
    • For this event, we're removing most of our image requirements to create variety and give you all chance
    • As we are not allowing crack ships, we'd also like to pull the plug on manipulated images! Even if they're of two idols who regularly do see each other.
    • To keep it simple, all images are fine and good, but please read the following points as I talk about a few things.
    • For all types of images, please be kind and aware of our badge dimensions. If an image is vertical (portrait style), please do a test crop on your own and compare it to the sample badge. If you can't crop it, I likely can't crop it! The further away the vertical image, the easier it is to fit in our badges, which are a horizontal rectangle. This event is going to be fast paced for badges that need to be made, so I really do ask that all members take their time and are considerate to your admin.
    • As a suggestion from your admin team, we'd like to remind our members that our cards are larger than other games, but certainly smaller than badges! If your idols are standing very far away, this may prove hard to card!
    • Some pairings are rare! Don't fret. The pretty keeps card and your custom badge can be the same image, if you wish! Even if it isn't rare.
    • Fan taken images are definitely the favorite to work with. Please ensure that you're getting the highest quality version that you can! If a fan taken image looks pixelated, there is likely a better quality version out there. Please right click the image and do a reverse Google image search.
    • News taken images are often fairly good quality if they're from certain sources. Please be mindful of the watermark and as always, avoid vertical images that are taken up close.
    • Photoshoots, both scans and news taken are fine! If you're planning on using scans, quality is quite important but these images are often huge and will likely look better when they're cropped. If you're unsure, give Caitlin a shout!
    • Selcas are likely going to be desired by quite a few of the members, and I want to accept as many as I can! Imagines that are taken up close are likely going to be tricky to work with, so I do recommend that our members do test crops or ask Caitlin if a self-taken image seems very close.
    • Screen shots must be high quality and without captions. I know that this will be tough, but I believe in you guys! Capping from YouTube is fine, but you will get better results if you download the video and cap it from your own video player. If anyone needs help with the proper tools for this, the Discord is full of cuties who will probably have some awesome suggestions!
    • Images can be fan taken, news taken, a photoshoot, a scan (please be aware of QUALITY), a selca (please be aware of QUALITY and dimensions). We are also allowing high quality screen shots, which is something we don't normally do.
